Pros:
- The design of the board is beautiful, practical, and really appealing.
- I love that it has storage for the pegs and cards.
- I was purchasing both cribbage boards as wedding gifts and the insert is easy to engrave with a laser and I'd imagine woodburning would also work well.
- 4 player set up which is fairly uncommon in crib boards.
Cons:
- I live in Maine, but paid for 'one business day' shipping because Norway is just far enough away (almost 2 hours) that the gas wouldn't make sense. Unfortunately, when I hadn't gotten a tracking update 2 business days after I placed my order I called in and was told "UPS didn't pick up yesterday". This was going to severely impact my ability to have the gift ready for the wedding that weekend, and it just didn't make sense to me after paying for the one day shipping. They were able to adjust my shipping address for the board and they made sure it got out that day, but they weren't overly understanding of why it surprised me. I was told that their website stated that shipping can take 5-7 days, but I didn't see that anywhere and it certainly was not included in the checkout page where I selected to pay extra for the one business day shipping.
- I ordered 2 boards each for separate couples. I'm glad I did because one of the boards had a chip in the insert and so if that had been the only one I ordered I still would not have had a viable gift to pass along! When I shared the image of the chip and asked if a replacement insert could be mailed to me I was told that was not possible. They offered to exchange the board, however, the process meant I would have to return it , re-purchase it and wait for another one to be shipped out when they received my return. I had to ask if they would provide a shipping label and discount the shipping on the re-purchased one. Basically, it was a lot of back and forth and then I had a loss in my family and it all became too stressful to be worth it. They also sent a video of the only other board they had in stock which had inconsistent staining on it. I'm glad they did that, because it made me realize my chipped one wasn't as bad as that one (is that really something a business wants a customer to feel?). In the end, I've decided to buy wood filler and fill the chip so that this $70+ cribbage board is a giftable item for my friends. So, it seems shopping in person would be the way to go if you can swing it. Otherwise, the quality consistency is not guaranteed and shipping is a real wild wild west situation.
- I've known and worked with other small business owners and I've never heard of someone charging for expedited shipping and not ensuring the package got out within the time frame promised.
